To the mods: isn’t it possible to implement a feature that new members can’t post links for the first 10 posts they make ?

I remember that at some old forum, I was member at, newbies had restrictions to avoid spammers. It helped a lot.

Hey there, I am a mod but not the creator of the forum. I basically spend (a lot!) of time deleting the spam messages. I have messaged the creator abt your idea. I don’t know any of the forum systems other than how to delete and ban spammers. I’m open to any ideas as i delete a lot of spam every day.

Yes there are many ways go keep spammers from posting links.

No introduction, no access to the forum

So you basically allow new users on the introduction page only. Only if they do a real and proper introduction, they get access to the rest of the forum.

No linking allowed for a number of posts

This should be user selectable by the admin. He can choose how many posts a new member must have before being allowed to publish a link.

Restricted use of the board.

For example the page “porn” isn’t accessable before reaching 30 posts. And it’s there where they always drop the spam.

I don’t know if this is all possible within the chosen package. But it won’t hurt to find out.

There is another way to even avoid spammers to create an account.

There’s a setting that every new account needs to be reviewed and approved by a moderator before going active. This way you can full it by the root before it has time to grow.

And the use of captcha helps too cause most spammers are bots
