New AO forum

Hello all, as some of you may know, or have gleaned, this forum no longer has an active Admin, and the payments to maintain the site tun out in September. As a moderator I have no access to the Administrator features and cannot change anything. As well, it has become increasingly difficult to deal with spammers.
So, @dnick has worked to create a new site that is going to replace this one. It continue to be free to users, but has a fresh staff of moderators/admins and some features to reduce spamming.
You are welcome to migrate there and create a new user account. As the last moderator I will cease work on this one to focus on the new forum. So this will likely devolve into a spammers paradise.
We do hope you join us. This forum has been instrumental in my life and helped my wife and I transition to a fully AO lifestyle. We hope to keep that level of support and community going. The new site is:

Actually, I do remain active, just not posting typically. Every few weeks I have to update anti-spam measures because this forum software has limited options to combat spambot practices. Manual blocking and removing has been the majority of the solution for the past decade+ this site has been active.

And what with AI which can perfecly create accounts while passing all countermeasures ? Is there even a way to fight is ? A few weeks back there were 40 PAGES of spam posts.

I've reenabled the StopForumSpam extension which we used in the past but ran into issues with false positives. Spam has gotten so bad I'm fine with some false positives for now.

It's not even really AI, it's just automated IP switching/spoofing and other simple techniques. phpbb needs better options to fight against such things.

Since forums have been moving to facebook groups, support is declined a lot. I’ve seen many forum die off that way. Some with tons of great info. Too bad.
