Anal sex is a subject no one wants to talk about. Yet, as with so many taboo topics, the lack of discussion is effectively hiding troublesome truths.

A new study of sexually active 16- to 18-year-olds in England reveals a striking paradox. It finds that “few young men or women reported finding anal sex pleasurable, and both expected anal sex to be painful for women.”

In spite of this, the practice seems to be gaining in popularity. A recent national survey in Britain reported that, among 16- to 24-year-olds, 19 percent of men and 17 percent of women had engaged in it over the past year.

Interesting. It's notable how many young people are having anal sex. This is clearly a big change from 20 years ago.

Regarding the perceived inevitability of pain for the woman, that clearly speaks to the relative inexperience at the age surveyed (16 to 18. As a side note imagine the uproar if an academic in the US were to survey 16 year old American kids about their views on assfucking!).

Looking back on myself at that age, I'm not sure most 16 or 18 year olds are prepared to have anal sex in the right way. Especially when you're getting started, anal for the woman needs a slow approach, patience, and a degree of empathy for what she's feeling. These are all things you learn and develop over time; most 18 year old guys don't have them yet.

Agreed!

The age group in question is full of youthful exuberance but unfortunately very little education and experience - which means they will take what they see in porn as the template for their Anal ambitions... which unsurprisingly leads to disaster!

It's the fact that the article did not highlight this aspect (as well as its overall tone) that I found highly questionable - if anything the world should be encouraging Anal with this age group, as it would dramatically reduce the rate of unwanted pregnancies!

Yeah I've read all this kind of stuff before and its not new. Like, guys wouldn't be interested in anal if they hadn't seen it in porn first.

And guys don't find it pleasurable?? Its stuff like this that makes me doubt its a genuine report. Most guys prefer anal as it feels much better for them than vaginal.

I think someone is lying.
