Th key advantage to the rise of anal in porn is the arrival of "straight to the anus" films, which were once very hard to get (unless you edit the vaginal sequences out). Titally AO porn is now an established sub-genre.

Those "straight to A" films started to appear around a decade ago. I was delighted when it happened because there hadn't been much porn to really interest me before that. I feared it would just be a fad (as these things often are) but it is very much here to stay. I'm back on one of my porn watching phases and from what I've seen there is even less vaginal action now. The vaginal sex is now perfunctory and is over in minutes, with anal now being seen as the "main event". It is almost as if minimal vaginal is being left in merely as a transition so that people feel more comfortable.

The normalisation of anal is also great, or perhaps is great for coming generations who will expect to do it anally because that is what they have seen; so they can discover their natural anal inclination and not withhold a natural urge because of pointless social taboo.

It does look like the normalisation is almost complete. Porn is so often criticised for the damage it does, but in this case it is doing so much good in my opinion in freeing people to discover and enjoy that natural anal inclination that vast numbers have but which has been suppressed.

I've long suspected that this is so, but have had no proof of it. It is difficult with these things not to let you're own personal preferences skew your outlook. It would be interesting to see the actual raw stats from some porn sites to see what people are really looking at. Does anyone provide such information? And is people wanting to see anal necessarily the same as wanting to do it? Certainly the producers are making efforts to provide a lot of anal content so that must say something.

Its all to do with the broader effects of the internet, IMO, not just pornography. People being able to share information freely in a way they never were before. If you think about it the most marked changed in attitudes to anal sex have been over the last twenty years.

I don't know of a site that provides aggregate stats for user ratings, by category. For me it's just more of an anecdotal observation: A four star scene becomes a five star scene if there is anal involved. Based on the growing amount of anal content, I don't think this is just wishful thinking on my part. Porn as an industry is pretty good at chasing the money.

Also I think inevitably what appears in porn will become more popular in private lives. An example is oral sex -- perhaps 40 years ago, oral was considered unusual. What's different here is that oral was something people included alongside vaginal sex. I see anal actually replacing vaginal so its a different situation don't you think?

The other significant difference I feel is how it looks. I know I'm biased and all and want to see people having anal but it looks so much better on screen. Much more fun to look at plus as others have noted the male performers are obviously enjoying it better which makes the viewer feel better too.

You know I think that has something to do with the fact the the women usually have multiple partners in most porn. And when one guy isn't in her ass they try to get the other guy(s) doing something so they fall back on the vagina, or viewers want to see DP. Personally I don't care about seeing multiple guys but I guess its what the public want to see......but if they must do that then why not stick to anal/oral? I'd rather even see double anal than any vaginal.....

Some things about anal in porn that aren't right. The guys don't often go really deep which is where it feels best i think. If you ever go past the rectal valves you know what i mean. Another thing is why in porn do they nearly always cum outside her ass? And the rare times they do then they get the girl to push it out. I just wish it was more different and more realistic.
