Difference between rectal dilators and butt plugs

To those of you who used both, what's the difference? Either in feel, place of stretching, efficacy to prepare...

I'm no expert, but this is what I think:

*Dilators are great to use in succession to prepare for the real deal, or a larger toy.

*A plug can be worn for a period of time because it has a flared base that can seat between your cheeks . plugs have a larger, flared head that can vary between short (sitting right inside the sphincter) to long. they also vary in diameter, usually with a tapered tip for ease of insertion.

As far as preparation, I think they both do a good job. I've been using a plug just to get used to having something in there and relax the sphincter a bit. I have dilators that I have played with. It's a set of three (the Doc Johnson Jellies Anal Trainer Set) the size difference between the medium and large is quite drastic, so I have't stretched enough for the large....yet.

The dilators, or trainers, are longer in length than the plug, so as far as feel, I feel fuller deeper inside and can practice relaxing and squeezing which opens and closes the valves, allowing for deeper entry.

If you need to prepare for length, a dilator may be what you are looking for. To train and relax the sphincter, and enjoy a feeling of constant fullness, the plug will do.

I've also come across sphincter stretchers. These have varying "neck sizes".

This may or not be correct  I am such a newbie, just have done a lot of reading on the topic over the last few days.

Thank you for your input, bluej34. :)

I thought these were the only rectal dilators out there Image, everything else being more like dildos shaped in a variety of ways.

I looked over the Doc Johnson you've mentioned but they also have a tapered shape (i.e., they're also butt plugs), Image

unless you're referring to these: Image

It's the last picture you posted that I have. They do t work that great as plugs as the neck and base are not shaped correctly.

I was able to take the largest the other night. The experience of being stretched that far was mind blowing! It took an entire day of play with the other two and then at least an hour to actually open for it. But once I did I was able to hold it and then ride it for a while. WOW.

This looks intriguing to me.

When both are parallel to each other and open the widest they are 2" apart. After this you can adjust the top and then the tip opens up to 4 1/2" while the base is at 3 7/8".

is there anything that's just a minimal 'ring' to keep the ass open? seems hotkinkyhjo has something like that (though still with the screw-adjustment part sticking out). I think it's super hot to just have yourselve held open (and able to sit down still? without the screw shaft impinging).

hard to imagine how you could get something like that (2 part device where the insertion assistance portion is removed somehow afterwards?)

Thats just a tunnel plug. No more like something that just opens the outer and inner sphincter. Like this but shorter length I guess:

(Fwiw in my years of looking at anal porn, I've only seen two images kinda like this, and one was fake. Find it super hot :)

I think that's Katya, btw.)
