He would be more gentle. As we have never tried, my fear is from past experiences and those experiences weren't necessarily rough.
I just could never get past the pain with a full thrust, especially after I cum. I'm hopeful that training myself will ease the pain and fear.

My wife always has a lot of pain after she cums from anal as well. Just tell him to stop moving for a minute at that point to allow you to redjust. That's what we do, tho she still fears doing anal for that exact same reason, even tho she'll cum continuously after a while, but will wince and fear about incoming pain after each time she cums. From what I've heard, it's due to the rectum tightening back up involuntarily after orgasms and if you're still nervous and tense back there, it makes it as painful as when you first plunge thru the 2nd sphincter. You just have to find a way to keep calm and taking it and have him not thrust too hard until you've re-acclimated to him being inside your ass.

I got her a plug that she uses, but only just a little while before we do anal, which is rare, like maybe 1nce every other month or so, if I'm lucky. She just fears the pain so much that pretty much everything under the sun has to be going on in order for her to put out...her ass. Last time she said it was one of the more durable sessions and mostly seamless transistions and so forth. We actually tried a few things we've normally not done whilst me being in her ass. Nothing too extreme tho.

Her pain mentions is mainly about passing thru the sphincters. Depth actually, as much as she almost is afraid of admitting to, is actually both where it's more durable and more importantly, most pleasurable for her.

I'd say, yes. It was clitoral. And I have experienced the penetration induced orgasm, but even then I wanted it out!
As I've been playing with the dilators , I realized that I hadn't even wanted clitoral stimulation and I played with them all day without an actual full climax.
