Update: My Wifey and I have been anal only for the last year and a half. This has been very good for us as a couple and it has relieved my wifes vag and pregnancy anxiety.
We were anal only for several years before we were married. Going back to anal only now has helped my wife return to the free spirited, relaxed, and aroused sex of those early years.
This is an aspect of anal sex and the anal only lifestyle that many couples don't realize until they make the decision to go anal only.
Anal sex only serves the purpose of pleasure and intimacy. The ability to have sex, uninhibited by thoughts of pregnancy or birth control can be a more power aphrodisiac than most realize. This, coupled with the well documented benefits a woman experiences from receiving her man's semen (magnified by the higher absorption of the rectum), means lead to the exact benefits you noted.

Quoting the above article:
"One 2002 study, based on a survey of 300 students, even found that women whose partners did not use condoms scored lower on a measure of depression.
If that effect is real, depression in some people might be treatable with artificial-semen suppositories."
Of course, nature has provided a much more natural and effective way to deliver these benefits. During anal sex, and especially at the time of orgasm, the woman's natural instinct is to bear down, opening her rectal valves and pushing her colon down. The man's natural instinct is to try and get as deep as possible. This, combined with the fact the colon is open ended (unlike the vagina) allows the man to ejaculate fully beyond the rectal valves and into the woman's colon. When the man withdraws his penis, the rectal vales close, retaining his ejaculate where it can best be absorbed.
