**The Complexity of Passionate Relationships

I had a girlfriend for two years. Our relationship was very difficult, but our sex life was otherworldly. It was like 95% analonly. After a harsh breakup, we had no contact for about a year. Then we started writing to each other again, even though she had a boyfriend at the time. We both knew there was no chance for a healthy relationship between us, which only heightened the sexual tension. We met a few times, and afterward, she broke up with her boyfriend too, and we both continued with our lives.
It was like forbidden fruit; the promiscuity from both of us came to light every single time. The energy, the shame, the jealousy, and the feeling of being sickened by the person you once loved—all that compressed emotional energy was expressed during our encounters. I like not being the only man; I enjoy the feeling of competition. I think it's because I don't feel this way often enough. In most of my relationships, everything is fine, and I never have to worry about other guys or anything... man, it gets so boring after a few years.
