You are certainly correct in that there are plenty other places to discuss kinks and I do understand your concerns. The concern that some AO couples may be uncomfortable here because of these other topics is valid.

I'll have to disagree though, in that I expect partner sharing/open sexual relationships have a larger audience than AO. (Not anal, just AO.)

Not sure that really matters, just following up.

Regardless, I enjoy reading here and will contribute appropriately on topics regardless of the direction they take.

My own opinion is that crazy as it may sound, anal and AO have a much wider appeal than wife-swapping to most people.[/quote]

Agreed! So is there a way of "normalizing" this? Decreasing the "stigma"?

Since the quality of debate has improved here recently I'm pleased to participate again. I was concerned I would have to abandon this unique place.

To respond: I'm glad you can see AO has much wider appeal. My own belief (for what its worth) is that is and has been a very common fantasy, particularly for men at least. I think it simply hasn't been discussed because prior to the last decades there was no real way of communicating this, nor a belief that AO could be achievable, given peoples already strong reticence about appearing pro anal.

I don't think much has to be done to decrease the stigma. I think we already see it happening - and it will continue to happen without any particular action being required. It's a natural and unstoppable progression, at least in western culture.

Like Marcus, I pretty much stopped coming around here when I saw most of the conversation going on here was going way outside of the realm of anal discussion and it was seeming like a melting pot of people trying to show off how kinky they can be. There are many, many places to discuss any sort of kink you might like.

The overlap here seemed like a regression, in my opinion, if indeed the objective of this forum is to encourage adult discussion about acceptance or enjoyment of anal sex between regular couples (admittedly, this might just be my vision of what I *want* from a site and not what the creator intended - I leave it to him to speak up). I think that people who might be curious about anal intercourse as a new facet of their sex life (or maybe even as a more focused part of it) might easily be put off by much of the discussion that has already been highlighted.

Similarly, even when the discussion is topical, I find the fantasy/masturbatory type discussions similarly detract from the perceived quality of the forum. Porn can be found elsewhere, be it visual or erotic literature. The reality of the problem may very well be that once you take out the erotica-seekers and the fetishists and swingers, there's little left to be discussed.

I forgot to add: New members are required to keep conversation alive and fresh, but at the moment there are none, likely due to the admin being swamped by spam.

Stuff like bdsm have their own boards and they have plenty to discuss. Like marcus said the problem is that there is nothing to say if its always the same people.

I must have turned up in another temporary lull. :)

I'm not into sharing or any other lifestyles myself either. I just want my girl to myself and enjoy anal sex happily ever after :D

But I'm more than happy to chat with others as long as they are into anal and have advice for a newbie wanting to get into AO!

analyeah wrote:New guy here. I tend to agree with Marcus on some of this. I think there is a lot to be said about AO. I have not had the good fortune to experience it yet, but have wanted it for a long time. As I think back, I have always had this preference, and finding this forum really struck a chord with me. And while I really think people can and should do what they mutually agree to do with each other, I am personally here to find out how and why people have come to AO. The wife sharing and whatnot threads, deviate from the subject of this forum, that does not mean they are deviant, just as I do not feel AO is deviant. I do agree that the deviations can detract from what I would like to see out of this forum. The descriptions of feelings and thoughts from both men and women really do speak to me as they are shared in this forum. So I hope there is more discussion, and I will try to provide some more input as well. This is not a mainstream topic, so it is not always the easiest to put yourself out there. As I get more comfortable, I will try to comment on some of the good starter topics you have started marcus. I really do want to learn more about AO and how I can move mine and my wife's relationship in that direction. I think it would be good for us, for various reasons, but we aren't there right now. I do hope there will continue to be new members, just like I am.

Hello analyeah. In all the discussion I had missed your input until I came back to re-read this thread. I hope you haven't been discouraged by our minor rift.

Most people say hi in the intro sub-forum, but it doesn't matter. Welcome.

From what you say you sound as though you share my curiosity about how we think, feel and arrive at AO. I look forward to your contributions.
