I am from Belgium and by default people of my generation speak German too. French is okay but not fluently.

I know that people from the Czech Republic of a certain age also often speak German, but I was told when I visited that many don't *like* to speak it. Understandably so ... How is it in Belgium?

Yes, it is spoken as a second language but it was replaced by English some time ago. My father is Czech, he speaks German and Polish because he is from a border town between the Czech Republic and Poland.

Ah, I see! Back in school I had a chemistry teacher who complained about Nazi Germany for a special reason, saying before all that, German was the language in the sciences, but now everyone had to learn English. I'm quite fond of English, though.

Yes, I speak Czech, sometimes it is difficult for me to understand it because I rarely practice it, basically only my father practices it, it is a difficult language to solve
