If done correctly, there should be no pain, but as you mention—pain is appealing to some people. I can't really advocate painful anal, unfortunately, because it's generally a sign that there's either not enough lube or the anal sphincter is being forced open too quickly—and either of those can cause injury.

From what I've seen, there are a lot of guys out there who would be open to the idea of an anal only relationship, but there are some who are completely turned off by anal, and others who don't like being limited to just anal/oral. Don't be discouraged if you encounter some of those people—plenty of other people compatible with your preferences are out there looking and hoping and dreaming about finding an anal only girl.
