Declaring our gender?

I think it would be interesting if in this forum there were the possibility of declaring gender, for users willing to show it. I am interested in the different prospectives on AO based on genders. It's not always clear by the nickname the gender of a particular user. I would also be curious of estimating the percentage of each gender among us (I still recommend avatars in profiles, anyway: they give a spark of colour to the whole stuff!)

Maybe you could just make a thread in General with a poll so people can do that. Or do you mean we should have an option where people choose their gender on their profiles?

I meant the second one but I think doing the first option of yours is good for starting, I'll do it.

Dang right! Ive said the same before and Ive seen it on many other forums too

All it needs is an extra line under Location on the right hand side, saying Male or Female

Knowing the gender of the person writing the post makes their advice more relevant, and gives you the right perspective when replying to them

It also stops me from calling someone Bro... if they are female lol!

I've added an optional Gender field. Those who choose to fill it out will have it displayed on their profile and on the mini profile beside their posts, those who prefer to keep their gender private can continue to do so.
